Rainer Malmberg works as Business Development Manager for Space based Services in the geospatial service Division of IABG mbH. With many years of experience in remote sensing, earth observation and geodata management, he has extensive market know-how in the areas of climate change, natural hazard management, development cooperation, energy, transportation and security. He has extensive expertise in the areas of market research, business development, needs analysis and application development.
Rainer has been involved in several national and international clean energy projects and is currently working closely with the World Bank, ESA and various energy providers on the development of earth observation services for the energy sector.
His background is in geography, business management and strategic sales and his career spans over 25 years of working. He has worked in executive management roles across Europe to set and execute remote sensing, GIS and space innovation strategies and new technologies. His particular interest lies in the development of use cases based on innovative linked space-based services from satellite navigation, communication and earth observation.
