In today’s world, space has become a pivotal driver of benefits for our industry, offering not only specific services but also significant financial returns. This underscores its status as an industrial sector of immense strategic and economic importance. To further amplify the returns on investments in the space sector, the Space Agencies of Italy, Spain and Belgium, in partnership with the European Space Agency, are extending their support to companies and organisations with the vision to harness space technology or integrate space systems into non-space markets, and vice versa.
Our aim is to inspire new entrants into the space sector, ensuring that technological breakthroughs from other vertical markets can translate into commercial advantages, thus expanding the horizons of the Space Economy.
With these ambitious goals in sight, under the ScaleUp program that received unanimous endorsement during the latest ministerial conference, ESA is forging a network of technological intermediaries (brokers). This network is poised to create added value and fortify the European industry by fostering dynamic collaborations between space organisations and non-space industries.
Our strategy encompasses a two-way technology transfer approach, actively supporting both spin-off and spin-in activities.
