Deep Space Energy (DSE) is developing a new European radioisotope power system (RPS) built around its proprietary Radioisotope Dynamic Generator (RDG). The RDG achieves up to 5× higher fuel-to-power efficiency (per Watt-electric) compared to legacy RTGs, while also offering enhanced reliability.

While the RDG is designed to be compatible with multiple radioisotope heat sources (RHS) and fuel forms, DSE is also advancing its own composite Sr-90 fuel and heat source, enabling delivery of the full power subsystem as an integrated solution.

Target applications include:
– Sub-kilowatt lunar surface power for surviving the lunar night and operating in permanently shadowed regions.
– Auxiliary power for strategic space assets, providing resilience against non-kinetic threats.
