Mercedes Sánchez Álvarez earned her Chemical Engineering MSc at the University of Valladolid before she moved to the Netherlands to conduct research at Wageningen University. She continued her career holding several positions in technology transfer in the Spanish National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) and the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands prior to the European Space Agency (ESA). Currently she is a Technology Transfer Engineer as part of the Innovation Services team at ESA. Her responsibilities are the implementation of technology transfer programmes in The Netherlands (BIC, Technology Broker and PhiLab) as well as the commercialisation of ESA’s patents portfolio.
