Space Engineer (SE) developed a biopolymer with shear thickening properties. The unique features of this material combined with renewable materials improve the impact protection and reduce the thickness of Whipple shield avoiding damage or the destruction of satellites. SE offers a novel alternative product, Impact2Space (I2S), a composite build based proprietary shear thickening fluids: it has superior impact protection, lighter than aluminium and when combined with Kevlar or Dyneema, can overcome the properties of these fibres.
