The World AgroCommodities project’s primary activities will center around user-driven development, showcasing an agricultural commodities detection and monitoring system along with its associated products and workflows.

These will be built upon thoroughly validated, state-of-the-art algorithms, and Earth observation data from the EU Copernicus program and ESA’s Third-Party Missions.

This initiative is geared towards supporting the European Union’s global deforestation reduction efforts. Consequently, the main thrust will be the creation of a monitoring system that aligns with the requirements set by competent National Authorities. Its role is to oversee the compliance of operators and traders with Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, a directive of the European Parliament and Council governing the availability and import of select commodities and products associated with deforestation and forest degradation into the Union’s market.
