BEST! (Boosters for European Space Transportation) is an initiative of the ESA Space Transportation Directorate Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP). Its goal is to foster competition for new concepts of future reusable first or boosters stages, through parallel concept studies targeting CM25 program files preparation. This initiative falls within the definition of the necessary reusable transportation systems to achieve a routine access to space answering any future need.
BEST! contributes to responding to this overarching vision for the access to space aspect, allowing new launchers architectures or improving the performances of existing launch systems, leading to drastically improve the competitiveness and the environmental footprint of space launches activities.
The goal of this call for ideas is to:
- Identify emerging space transportation consortia interested in improving and enlarging the offer of access to space in Europe in terms of performance, competitiveness and environmental footprint, paving the way for future launch systems architectures
- Identify Technology Providers in certain technology fields which are key for future reusable European Space Transportation
- Identify potential investors interested in future European space transportation capable of high reliable launch cadence and sustainability.
