SPACE.CONNECT Conference: ESA Technology Transfer
On 7 December 2023, representatives of companies and start-ups will have the opportunity to establish new contacts, share experiences, and join matchmaking sessions during the SPACE.CONNECT: ESA Technology Transfer event in Warsaw, organised by Polish ESA Brokers. This is not only an opportunity for financial benefits but also for mutual inspiration and development.
ESA’s space technology Brokers aim to effectively solve business problems by appropriately adapting advanced solutions originally developed for the space industry. These are the ideas behind the ESA Broker programme, supported and promoted by the European Space Agency.
At the event, participants will have the opportunity to listen to the presentation of ESA representatives. Experts and brokers will provide information on the type of support that can be expected in technology transfer and a broad knowledge of initiatives such as ESA OSIP or ESA Spark Funding (as part of ESA Broker’s activities in Poland, ESA Spark Funding is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2024; the funding amount will be EUR 75,000 for phase 1).
To enable effective technology transfer, a matchmaking session is planned during the event. Its main goal is to connect companies from different sectors – those seeking new solutions (technology recipients) with those that have advanced space solutions (space companies – technology donors). The transfer of proven space technologies will allow companies to view various challenges in a completely new way. Among the space companies participating in the matchmaking are entities such as PIAP Space, specialising in space robotics, ITTI focusing on software for space applications, and Astroteq.ai monitoring seismic activity based on cosmic radiation.
The ESA Broker initiative clearly shows that the use of space technologies is not a sci-fi idea but a daily reality with immense benefits for security and the economy. The space industry is extremely innovative and requires international collaboration. Its development aligns with the digital transformation strategy endorsed by the European Commission.
At the event participants will also learn how the ESA BIC programme, successfully implemented in Poland, operates. It is an excellent incubation path for start-ups, which can count on financial and mentoring support.
The conference will take place on 7 December 2023 from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at Brain Embassy, Postępu Street 15 in Warsaw. It is organised by Absiskey Polska, Krakow Technology Park and the Polish Space Industry association. The event partners are European Space Agency, Polish Space Agency and Industrial Development Agency.
