DESCRIPTION
Reactive Robotics will build robots for very early movement (VEM) rehabilitation after stroke and orthopaedic joint replacement with a patented, modular system that opens the new, €2.4 billion market of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Rehabilitation Robotics. Stroke patients that underwent intensive VEM therapy could be transferred from the expensive ICU to less expensive standard care units at least one day earlier while showing significantly better clinical scores. Same is true for hip- or knee-joint replacement patients. However, so far there
is no robotic device available that can automate the time consuming process of performing VEM, while seamlessly integrating itself into the workflow of an ICU.
