ESA also launched 13 satellites, including <strong>EarthCARE<\/strong>, <strong>Sentinel-1C<\/strong>, and <strong>Hera<\/strong>, and concluded two astronaut missions, while <strong>five new career astronauts<\/strong> graduated.<\/p>\n<p>Naja spotlighted ESA\u2019s 2025 timeline, including <strong>Slovenia<\/strong> as a new Member State, the launch of the <strong>Biomass<\/strong> mission on Vega-C, the opening of the <strong>HPC Facility<\/strong> at ESRIN, and the <strong>Axiom-4<\/strong> mission. These initiatives are part of a broader roadmap leading to CM25 in Bremen, where ESA\u2019s Strategy 2040 will be further shaped.<\/p>\n<p>Central to G\u00e9raldine Naja\u2019s message was ESA\u2019s evolving role in commercialisation. She presented the new <strong>ACCESS programme<\/strong>, designed to accelerate the competitiveness of Europe\u2019s space sector. Building on the existing programmes ScaleUp and BASS, ACCESS supports companies from start-up to scale-up, offering zero-equity funding, technical and commercial support, and access to ESA\u2019s extensive networks.<\/p>\n<p>G\u00e9raldine Naja also highlighted ESA\u2019s role as an anchor customer, citing examples like <strong>Copernicus Contributing Missions<\/strong> and the <strong>LEO cargo return service<\/strong>. These efforts aim to foster a thriving commercial ecosystem, reduce time-to-contract, and increase transparency.<\/p>\n<p>In closing, G\u00e9raldine Naja emphasised ESA\u2019s five strategic goals: protecting the planet, exploring space, strengthening European autonomy and resilience, boosting growth and competitiveness, and inspiring Europe.
