Elizabeth Laier English is a Technology Innovation Engineer in ESA’s Navigation Innovation Support Program (NAVISP). She joined ESA in 2022 and has a technical background in precise time transfer techniques, having previously developed timing services for industry at the UK’s National Physical Laboratory.
Elizabeth studied in London at UCL and Imperial College and has a PhD in Laser Physics. This was followed by a fellowship at the RIKEN Institute laser technology lab in Japan and postdoctoral research in the Paris Observatory’s optical frequency metrology group. In NAVISP, Elizabethsupports the strategic development of Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) techniques and services by academic and industrial organisations within ESA’s member states.
